Salming blades summary - which is Kim Nilsson's favorite?

Feb 23, 2017

Swedish national floorball team captain Kim Nilsson develops Salming products - let's compare all the blades.

The best Salming blades have the name "Quest". How did they come to this blade, which has been the core product of Salming collection?

Forerunners of the Quest

Back to the past when Quest blades did not exist. Instead there were 1X, 2X, 3X and then 7X blade, which became the forerunner of the blade Quest. Blade 3X had uniquely well integrally molded ribs, the blade was very robust (see picture below) and had reinforced in bottom part. Follower the blade 7X looked very close to the current blade.

That's how the Quest was born. The blade has been still very popular among floorball players.

Salming Quest

Quest is a universal blade that is the golden middle way for all types of players - both for technique players and snipers. The reinforced tip of the blade helps driblling. The lower part of the is filled up to prevent unwanted bending during shots. Passes are accurate and are pointing exactly where you want. Each player also appreciates its very low weight.

Salming Quest1

Currently the most popular blade from Salming. At first glance, the blades seems to be almost the same as the blade Quest. But Quest1 blade is about 0.5 centimeters shorter and there is a the tip is shaped slightly in a different way. But the characteristics remain the same, it is excellent for both technique players and shooters.

Salming Quest2

The most pre-curved blade from Salming. Thanks to a slightly precurved tip of the blade, Quest2 is ideal for shooters, especially for those who like sweep shots. Shots are accurate, but passes are not so accurate, but over time you can get used to the blade and also the passes will be ok.

The successor of the blade will be released in December 2017 - How would you call it Quest4? Or Quest7? Or are we going to see a completely new series of Salming blades? Feel free and write your opinion at the social networks ;-)

Salming Quest3

The blade was created by combining technologies from the previous models Quest, Quest1 and Quest2. During past two years the blade, the popularity didn't come. Why? The main reason is probably that the blade is designed more for technique players but the shots are not very precise. The blade is a great choice for those who do not shoot much during the match, because their passes must be accurate.

Salming Quest5

The latest blade from Salming, which is similar to the blade Q1 and we could call it as the successor of this blade. It has about 1cm² larger playing area and the same concavity - 7.2. The biggest difference is that Q5 has a concavity for its entire length so the ball holds better. The blade is great for slap shots, we recommend it more likely for technical attackers.

An interesting fact about this blade: It was originally constructed according to one of the best players in the world, Kim Nilsson, who returned to the "good old" Quest1 blade after some weeks.

Big comparison of Salming Quest blades

Other blades

Also worth mentioning are blades Shooter, Xplode a Aero, first two blades originally come from X3M (Salming took over X3M). These blades are not bad, but they are used very rarely on a professional level, anyway, these blades are perfect for beginners and hobby players, especially the blade Salming Shooter.
